Why Not Try This Natural, Alternative Hair-Dye Method?

I’m sure you’ve heard of henna before, typically used for body art. But are you aware of the hair benefits of henna? Henna is an ancient medicinal plant that’s been used as a natural dye for over 4,000 years. Its antifungal and antimicrobial properties may be beneficial for the hair and scalp, particularly for premature graying and reducing dandruff. It is free of any chemicals, preservatives, metals and other substances, unlike regular hair dyes. In places like India and Pakistan many people dye their hair with henna as it is better for the hair whilst also being an excellent dye. Some of these benefits include the following:

  • Henna repairs and strengthens hair
  • It conditions hair
  • Regulates oil secretion
  • Prevents dandruff and improves scalp health
  • Its natural properties promote hair growth.
  • Prevents hair fall
  • Corrects hair thinning

As you can see, there are a number of benefits of using henna on your hair. You can get a limited amount of colours, which is the downside but if you’re looking to dye your hair the following colours, light brown, dark brown, black, mahogany, burgundy, orange, red and chestnut, then you will be able to with henna and keep your locks luscious and healthy! I believe this alternative dye method is brilliant as normal hair dye can damage hair with all the chemicals in it. For example, using ammonia regularly can result in dry, brittle, unhealthy looking hair. Here are some negative effects of using your usual hair dye:

  • Allergic reactions. Hair dyes contain paraphenylenediamine, which is a common allergen.
  • It is possible that when chemicals from hair dyes make contact with your eyes, you may get conjunctivitis or pink eye. Or instead, it can cause inflammation and severe discomfort.
  • This is due to the usage of hair dye and hydrogen peroxide which can result in dull, brittle and dead hair.
  • Having a truly intricate hair color might cost you a lot.

Chemical based hair colour will damage your hair cuticles forever, it’s time  to use a natural alternative, and protect your hair. Henna acts as hair treatment as well as dye, which makes it my go to. Keep yourself young with this amazing alternative.
